The University of the South women's golf team, after a spectacular performance at the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate, moved up from 27th to 19th in the latest GolfStat National Rankings, announced earlier in the week.

In the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) poll, announced on March 17, prior to the tournament in Georgia, the Tigers were receiving votes.

So far this season, the Purple Tigers are averaging a 312.21 average through 14 rounds this season.

After a ninth place finish at the Savannah Invitational on March 6-7 to start the spring season, the Purple and White finished in third place at Jekyll Island last weekend, firming a 54-hole score of 910.

Sewanee's 295 is the second sub-300 score this season, and it also set the school record for lowest round in program history.

Individually, four Tigers are ranked in the GolfStat rankings for Division III. Leading the charge is freshman E.C. Niebauer at 59th. She holds the second-lowest average on the team with a 78.17 average in 12 rounds, and she carded a 54-hole low of 228 at Jekyll last week.

Junior Merrick Semans is listed at 60th. She leads the team in stroke average with a 77.71 average in 14 rounds this season. She also holds the lowest score for the Tigers, a 70 at Golfweek back in the fall.

Sophomore Sabrina Nesbitt is ranked 72nd in the rankings. So far in 14 rounds, she has carded a 78.79 average.

Sophomore Mary Browder Howell sits in 93rd. Coming off a 31st finish of 234 at Jekyll Island, she has a season average of 79.56 in nine rounds this season.

The Tigers are back in action on April 3-4 with the Max and Susan Stith Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon College, from The Dominion Club in Glen Allen, Va.
