Brooke Despriet/Women's Tennis | The University Of The South
Announced by the Southern Athletic Association on Monday afternoon, Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty were named to the weekly awards. Petty was named the Singles Player of the Week, while she and partner Brooke Despriet were named the Doubles Team of the Week.
The University of the South has swept the player of the week awards for the league in each of the first three weeks of the season.
Katherine Petty, Singles Player of the Week
Recording an undefeated weekend at the ITA Indoor National Championships, Petty secured two straight-set wins. In Friday's quarterfinal match against No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer, the junior knocked off Amelia Poor, 6-1, 6-3.
The next day against No. 11 Carnegie Mellon, Petty secured a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Zoe Angell.
Undefeated in spring dual matches with a 3-0 mark, she is 4-1 on the 2022-23 season.
Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty, Doubles Team of the Week
The top-ranked doubles team in the country, Despriet and Petty secured two more victories at the ITA Indoor National Championships. First against Marissa Markey/Angie Zhou of Pomona-Pitzer, the Sewanee duo secured an 8-2 victory.
Saturday versus No. 7 Crystal Zhou/Danna Taylor of Carnegie Mellon, the Tigers posted an 8-6 victory.
After winning the ITA Cup, a fall national championship for small colleges, the duo is now 11-2 on the season.
