The University of the South Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) team wrapped up the regular season with a home show on Friday and Saturday from the Howell Equestrian Center. On Sunday, the Tigers participated in the Regional Championships and finished tied for first with four individuals qualifying for Zones.

CLASS OF 2023!
-Prior to Saturday's show, four IHSA riders, Gigi Aiken, Revie Atkinson, Caroline Gramig and Liza Shoaf were honored as a part of the Senior Day festivities.
FRIDAY'S TOP PERFORMERS
-Limited to one rider per division due to the weather, Nell Grady (Intermediate Fences), Revie Atkinson (Limit Flat) and London Eller (Pre-Novice) all took blue ribbons in their respective events.
-Liza Shoaf (Open Fences) and Gigi Aiken (Open Flat) each took third.
-As a team, Sewanee finished as the reserve high point team.
SATURDAY'S TOP PERFORMERS
-Gigi Aiken won both the Open Fences and Open Flat classes.
-Laura-Ann Moore won the Limit Flat class, while Abdul Mafahi took the blue ribbon in the Introductory class. London Eller won the Pre-Novice class.
-Mollie McWhorter won the Intermediate Flat, as the team picked up High Point honors on Saturday.
REGIONAL SHOW PERFORMERS
-Four riders qualified for the Zone Championships. Gigi Aiken advanced to the Open Fences and Open Flat classes on Sunday. The senior won the Fences and took second in the Flat.
-LIza Shoaf also qualified for the Open Fences with second place finish at Regionals.
-Nell Grady won the Limit Fences and advanced to the Zone Championships.
-Also in the introductory class, Tony Calderon Gonzalez won the class and qualified for Zones.
-Mollie McWhorter took third in the limit flat class.
-As a team, the Tigers were tied with Maryville College for the top spot after the regional event with 260 points apiece. Going into the weekend, the Purple and White trailed the Scots by 23 points.
-After surpassing the Scots on both shows on Friday and Saturday, the team tied for the top spot.
-The tiebreaker was decided by totaling the top five horse shows of the year. After the tabulation, it was determined that Maryville won the region championship.

The four Zone qualifiers will next compete at the IHSA Zone 5 Championships, hosted by the Savannah College of Art & Design in Hardeeville, S.C. on Saturday, April 1.
