The University Of The South Marr, Kahl Earn First Team Selections; Four Men's Basketball Players Named All-SAA

The University of the South saw four men's basketball players named to the Southern Athletic Association's All-SAA Team. Colin Kahl and Russ Marr were named First Team members, while Luka Avaliani and Tre Corrigan were Honorable Mention selections. 

Marr, a sophomore from Bryant, Ala., led the conference in scoring during the regular season with 21.2 points per game. The mark is ranked 26th in the country in the category. 

Knocking down 77 3-pointers for 12th-best in the country, his 38.9 percentage was second-best in the league. 

Along with knocking down shots from all over the field, he also is a threat at the charity stripe. Finishing the regular season with 117 free throws, he led the SAA in the category and is 24th in the nation in the category. Converting 83% from the line, he is second in the league. He led the league in free throws in conference play, knocking down 64-of-72 for an 88.9 percentage. 

Marr earns his second All-SAA recognition in as many seasons. He was also the 2022 SAA Newcomer of the Year. 

Kahl, a senior from Roswell, Ga., earns his second All-SAA accolade in his career after collecting Second Team honors last season. 

Posting a 55.6% mark from the field during the regular season for second-best in the league and 68th overall in Division III, his 164 field goals made trails his teammate in Marr for the top spot (179). 

Kahl also posted 6.5 rebounds per game in 25 regular season contests to finish in the top-10 in the league. 

Avaliani, a sophomore from Marietta, Ga., averaged 10.3 points and 5.6 rebounds during the Tigers regular season. Knocking down 97 field goals for 46.6%, Avaliani also had 81 assists. 

Corrigan, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., was a threat from downtown this season for the Purple and White. 61 of his 92 shots were from beyond the arc. Additionally, he posted a 1.58 assist-to-turnover ratio while averaging 34 minutes per game. 

The University of the South earned the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Championship for the second time in program history.
