The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) office has announced on Monday that junior forward Kayla Antoine of the University of the South has been selected as the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Antoine had a career day in Sewanee's 74-71 victory versus Bob Jones (S.C), dropping new highs in points scored (31) and field goals made (13). The Nashville, Tenn. native shot 13-of-19 from the field and added 15 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
Averaging 16.1 points per game this season, Antoine is fourth in the league in scoring and is sixth in field goal percentage (47.9%). On the boards, she leads the league in rebounds per game (9.3) and is 24th in the country in total rebounds with 112.
Antoine and the rest of the Tigers return to the hardwood in 2023 for the second half of the SAA schedule. The University of the South will take on Hendrix College on Friday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. from Juhan Gymnasium.
