The University of the South's men's golf team has ascended to the top-10 nationally in two rankings administered for Division III.
The program is ranked 10th in the latest GolfStat rankings, administered on March 30, and on Friday, the Golfweek Coaches Association of America (GCAA) have the Tigers listed at 10th in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll.
This is the program's best ranking of the 2021-22 season, and they are the highest ranked team inside the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
The men's team is coming off a major win at the Jekyll Island Collegiate, firing a season-low 851 and posting its two lowest scores of the season: 280 in the second round and 283 in the first round.
Going into the final month of the regular season, the program is averaging 295.05 strokes per round and a 73.92 adjusted score average. GolfStat has the Tigers' comparative record of 262-of-272, a 90.2 relative percentage.
Inside the Golfstat region rankings, the Purple and White are fifth, trailing behind Emory, Christopher Newport, Huntingdon and Methodist.
Individually, Pearse Lucas continues to improve as he sits in 13th with a scoring average of 71.71. After winning the Savannah Invitational on March 7-8, the freshman finished in a tie for second place at Jekyll with a 208.
Additionally, the Charlotte, N.C. native is the second-highest freshman in the field of 150.
Michael Olmsted is currently in 55th in the national rankings with an adjusted scoring average of 73.72.
Sewanee will have a busy month upcoming, as they will play in two more regular season tournaments. The Purple Tigers return to action April 11-12 for the Division III Showcase from French Lick, Ind. at The Donald Ross Course.
Over Easter weekend (April 16-17), the team will head to Conyers, Ga. for the Emory Spring Invitational before defending their title in the SAA Men's Golf Championships April 22-24 from Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga.
