Graduates earn 447 degrees, certificates from Sewanee-The University of the South

About 20.6 percent of the 447 degrees and certificates handed out by Sewanee-The University of the South in 2017-18 were to students in social sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Sewanee conferred 92 bachelor's degrees in social sciences programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in general economics. Data shows the school gave out 58 bachelor's degrees in general economics, followed by 52 bachelor's degrees in general psychology and 46 bachelor's degrees in general English language and literature.

The university enrolled 1,785 students for 2017-18, including 1,698 in undergraduate programs and 87 in graduate programs.
